Our Lawn Fertilization Schedule
We strive to do the most for your lawn and have tailored our 8-step fertilization program to best suit its needs throughout the year, with 6-8 week intervals between each application. However, that's not all! While fertilization will keep it green and healthy, this program also includes pre- and post-emergent weed control treatments to keep pesky weeds at bay and a lime application to balance your soil's pH. Our lawn fertilization schedule is as follows:
- January-February: We'll apply a late winter pre-emergent weed control treatment to prevent early spring broadleaf weeds from sprouting above the surface. Then, we'll apply a post-emergent blanket herbicide to tackle any weeds that have already surfaced.
- February-March: We'll apply another pre-emergent weed control treatment to get ahead of spring weeds and a post-emergent blanket treatment.
- March-April: Your lawn will receive its first fertilization treatment of the season to boost its green color.
- April-May: This visit includes one more pre-emergent application and an iron-rich fertilization treatment to assist with growth.
- June-July: We'll apply another fertilization treatment rich in nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, and iron to support your turf during its most active growing period, help it develop strong root systems, and establish its density.
- August-September: We'll treat your turf with another round of pre-emergent weed control treatments to prevent winter and spring weeds from breaking through the surface.
- October-November: This visit includes a lime application to correct your soil's pH and enhance your turf's nutrient intake.
- November-December: For our final visit of the year, we'll apply pre- and post-emergent weed control treatments to ensure your lawn is weed-free going into the winter.

We use both liquid and granular fertilization treatments.
While granular fertilization treatments are slow-release and supply nutrients gradually over time, liquid fertilizers are fast-acting and get to work almost immediately after application. At Turf Magic, we want to make sure that we are fertilizing your lawn with the appropriate type of fertilizer, which is why we will use either a liquid or granular fertilizer depending on the environmental conditions and climate.
